PRESS RELEASE: July 17, 2009The South was launched in
Jackson, Mississippi in 2001, just three weeks after 9/11. Although a
tough time to open a business, Stan Leflore, with a strong commitment from
partners Hal and Linda Parker, embarked on a journey. Eight years later
The South has landed in a magnificent old building with much history at
627 East Silas Brown Street in the Central Business District of Jackson.
This warehouse, a distribution center for McRae's Department Store chain
in the 1950's, once again has a bright future. Life returns to this grand
old building as Stan and The South embark on a different journey than the
usual retail. Although The South has developed a reputation in our market
area for unusual European antiques, Persian rugs and original art, imagine
them as furnishings for such a unique property. Now picture yourself at a
typical Southern social event among a thousand guests in this environment.
bsp; Stan can think of no better name for such a place than The South, nor
a better location than Jackson's Central Business District. He is the
great great great grandson of French trader, Louis LeFleur, who
established a trading post on the banks of the Pearl River, which grew to
become Jackson. He thinks his ancestors would approve his location, which
sits about 100 yards from the river bank near the Old River Bridge
connecting downtown Jackson and Flowood. "It seems as though I have
come home," says Stan. To make things even better The South has
partnered with Jackson's hottest catering business, Fresh
Cut, owned and
operated by Bruce and Wendy Putt. With over 20 years in the event
industry, Wendy has done weddings in Baltimore, Kansas City and New
Orleans, as well as working with corporations and even the International
Ballet Competition. What is it that inspires Wendy to push the envelope in
the areas of fresh cut flowers and catering? "I love to start with a
polka dot and end up with a mosaic", says Wendy, "I want to take
an event from ordinary to incredibly memorable!" To arrange for your
next party, fund raiser, reception, or corporate event to be given at The
South, please contact Stan Leflore at 601 953-9598 or Wendy Putt at 601
966-4518.
